B.J. Winfrey is a native Atlanta author, filmmaker, screenwriter, director, and professional actor whose creative work spans theater, television, independent film, international cinema, and publishing.

His debut novel, The Final Lesson — the first volume of the epic-fantasy trilogy Everybody Wants to Rule the World — marked his entry into long-form fiction. The second volume, Beware the Icestorm, followed, continuing the trilogy's exploration of power, loyalty, destiny, and the human cost of conflict. The third and final volume, Anthem, is coming soon.

Winfrey is also developing The SlowJam Mixtape Series: The Indigo Collection, a forthcoming series of contemporary love stories with an R&B soul.

Winfrey's background in dramatic storytelling and visual world-building directly informs the scope and atmosphere of the trilogy. His current feature project, BLUE, reflects the same commitment to character-driven, high-stakes narrative that defines his body of work across mediums.

For Winfrey, film and fiction are different forms of the same pursuit: building worlds, exploring character, and telling stories that stay with the audience after the final page or frame.

Creative Philosophy

“Great stories, well told.”

For Winfrey, the distinction is simple: a “great story” comes from inspiration; “well-told” comes from perspiration. The idea may arrive in a moment, but enhancing the craft comes from the work — revising, refining, questioning, and shaping the story until it delivers what the original inspiration promised.
