Everybody Wants to Rule the World
An Epic-Fantasy Trilogy by B.J. Winfrey
Everybody Wants to Rule the World is an epic-fantasy trilogy about power, destiny, fear, loyalty, identity, and the price of trying to control others. Across a vast world shaped by conflict, prophecy, mysticism, and competing visions of freedom, ordinary and extraordinary people are forced to decide what they are willing to sacrifice — and what they refuse to surrender.
Across the trilogy, questions of power, freedom, fear, love, loyalty, and destiny collide as characters struggle not only over who will rule — but what ruling others ultimately costs.

From Screen to Page
The story world that eventually became Everybody Wants to Rule the World has roots in film. The Final Lesson was originally developed and produced as a fantasy short film starring B.J. Winfrey and Marquita Goings. The film was shot and edited, though its visual-effects work was never fully completed.
During the development process, extensive prose backstory was written to help define the world and its characters. As that material expanded beyond its original purpose, it eventually became the foundation for a novel — and then a trilogy.
